Chamkar Samrong Methodist Church

Chamkar Samrong has land, but needs a church building

8/20/2001
The church bought land for a building and gardens two years ago. The property is used for growing vegetables and fruit trees. There is a well and a pond (25X30 and 4 meters deep). It is used for fish and irrigation purposes.

The land is fertile, as there is enough water available. The church is in need of a fence for the property, to keep animals out. Because of the size of the property, the cost is around $1.000.-. There is also a need for a
rechargeable battery for lighting of the church at night, since there is no electricity. This battery would be good for a month, then needs to be recharged.

The church has an average
attendance of 20-30 adults and
more than 50 children. There are
 two English classes on most
evenings, one for teens, the
other for older youth and adults.
This is the only schooling for
some kids.

The church has no building yet.
However, there is a small house
for the pastor, the church meets under his
house. Recently, and still under
construction at this moment, is a
patio that will be connected to his
house to increase meeting space
and allow for more sanitary meeting
 conditions.

This patio is made possible through
a donation of $700.- two months
ago byvisiting members of Santa
Ana The pastor is charged with
taking care of the property.

There is an urgent need for a church building. Presently, while worship is
still possible, the government is starting to curtail the freedom of worship
in some provinces. Churches have permission to meet, but they need their own meeting space/building. The cost of a building is $8 - 10.000.-.

There is a vital ministry here at Chamkar Samrong.
