Mission Trip October 27, 2006 - November 10, 2006
Who Should Go?
We want to invest in young adults (ages 15-30) who want God's plan for their career. And we want to invest in church leaders who are willing to invest one year of volunteer leadership
in the local church based on whatever God teaches them in Cambodia.
What Happens on the Trip?
You will travel in Cambodia with a group of 10 people from the USA, meeting church leaders and spending time at churches.. The time with leaders exposes you to the raw story
of a community of Christian faith born in violence and succeeding in poverty.
How do people feel after they go?
``I readily welcome this challenge, knowing I'm a small part of something very special in Cambodia…" 2001 Trip Member
``This entire trip has been so moving and definitely a learning experience. As much as I am looking forward to being home a part of me wants to stay in Cambodia.
Hopefully I will be able to come back." 2001 Trip Member
``The most "surprising" … part for me was when we visited the Killing Fields. I went thinking that I was prepared for what I was going to see. I have read books, I have seen movies, I have looked at pictures but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw…" 2001 Trip Member
``This trip has been such a gift to me! Each person ahs added by thought, word and
deed to an incredible experience." 2001 Trip Member
Leadership
Dr. Ronald Tompkins, Senior Pastor of the Jackson Heights United Methodist Church will lead the trip. He has travelled in Cambodia since 1991. In Cambodia, there are 11 United Methodist
missionaries and a committee of church leaders who will host site visits and be available for questions and teaching.
Costs
The cost of the 2005 trip is $2,200. The application requires a $900 non refundable deposit. These costs cannot be guaranteed until the air tickets are purchased, but they represent our best
understanding of the air travel industry for Summer 2005.
