Bio - Dr. Ron

Dr. Ron Tompkins is in his 11^th year at Community Church. He was raised in Binghamton, NY and previously lived in Buffalo while in ministry with students and faculty and in Syracuse.

He was brought up in the Holiness movement where his grandfather was a pastor. Dr. Ron comes to ministry with a liberal passion on justice issues and a conservative passion on theology. This mix guarantees that no one sleeps during a service! Dr. Ron is Chair of 82^nd Street Academics, a non profit educational agency of Community Church.

He has 11 children – three biological and 8 foster sons. His family started his Cambodia connection where he travels about once a year. One of his interests is bridge people who live between diverse communities.

He received the BA in Philosophy from Binghamton University, M.Div. from Trinity Theological Seminary and Ph.D. in Higher Education Policy from SUNY Buffalo. And his other interest is consulting with college students on selecting majors and careers.
